Your website a bottleneck?
It should be effortless.

There are a lot of web companies out there, and I’m sure you’ve worked with some of them.

But, your company needs a complex website. You’ve outgrown the site a do-it-all marketing agency built for you.

That’s why we decided to go all-in on web at Classic City. We’ve tried other marketing things, but in our 20 years, web is what we come back to.

At Classic City, we build sites that don’t require us to maintain. We build interconnected, well-documented sites that your team can use.

In the age of agencies chasing retainers, we want to give you the quality product your team deserves.

Chris LaFay
Founder & CEO

We’re going to go over a few things: vibe check, the types of clients we work with, our pricing and process, and the techy details on how we build a site. Jump around as you see fit.

Does the vibe check match?

Are we the right fit?

Your first website.
We love entrepreneurs. But typically, your first website doesn’t need to be a behemoth. You are typically well-served in a Squarespace, Wix, Webflow, (or light-weight WordPress) site that doesn’t require as steep as an investment. PS. We have friends that can help here.

You won’t update your site in 3+ months
If your site is going to sit for a while, there is a good chance you don’t need a robust website.

You’re looking only for hosting and maintenance
These are both great things, and are assuredly needed. However, when we partner long-term with our clients, we’re looking to proactively grow their sites in conjunction with a marketing plan. If plugin updates and security is all you need, we can intro you to some dope companies who you’ll love.

CMOs with a marketing plan
You have a full strategy across ads, organic, email, (and other things), and your website is holding your team back.

Agencies with projects
You run a web agency, typically selling sites north of $100K, and need a pinch hitter on development. And, we play real nicely with agencies that don’t want to deal with web at all.

Complex website build
You have a combination of unique content segments and they need to be dynamically interconnected.

Recent rebranding
You are finishing up a rebranding process with an amazing agency, and now it’s time to take your message and aesthetic live.

Get some inspiration
Our clients have said some nice things, too

They really know their stuff and they’re really well versed in both web development and strategy.

The quality of their work is great, and we enjoy working with them. Their knowledge and integrity are great.

I couldn’t have found a better partner. They weren’t yes machines, but they found a way to take my wants and figure out ways to say a realistic yes.

Our website redesign process

Many companies try to simplify the web design process too much (and they all end up looking the same). When we build a new site, we take 4-6 months and walk through a multi-step process:

Story

We want to understand your “why.” Your business isn’t just about the services you offer – it’s the stories of how your team makes an impact of other people’s lives.

Sitemap
Often overlooked

Content is where many web design processes crumble. We start off by defining 7-10 key pages to tell your story. From there, we arrange content can be brought over [mostly] as-is, and what content can be automagically migrated (ie. blog posts)

Wireframes
Story structure

Before we start making the site look pretty, we want to ensure that we all agree the right structure each key page should have to drive conversion. We look at the key pages from the sitemap and “pencil sketch” the layout to ensure we’re telling the right story.

Design & Art
Your uniqueness

Between your message, logo, brand visuals, fonts, and color palettes, there need to be unique elements that separate you from the rest of your competitors. It’s not just about designing an awesome website – but one that is uniquely yours.

Content
Building blocks

We design in a puzzle-piece method (the different elements can easily be used across all pages). Now we take your key pages, use all the new puzzle pieces we have designed, layout, and write content.

Coding
Sit back & relax

We now take your site and start building it in WordPress. Ready for some tech-talk? All of our websites are built in WordPress, using the WP Block Editor, fully responsive, on a foundation of accessibility, and we record training videos.

Prep
QA sucks

Now you can view your website on all of your devices and let us know what you would like changed. Rather than doing QA, we let you use this time to either fix knick-knacks or build new features. It’s your time, use it however best serves your business goals!

Launch
Show it off!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for – time to launch the site. We’ll make sure either we have access to your DNS or can work with someone on your team. We recommend hosting your new WordPress site on WP Engine if you don’t have a preference.

What about pricing?

We know this is everyone’s favorite topic. Let’s go ahead and get it out of the way.

Maintain

$5K/mo+

Your current website is great, and a redesign isn’t in the cards.

We’ll spend the first month getting to know your current website as well as if we built it ourselves. We’ll identify bloat, find ways to streamline it, and prepare it for long-term wins

Redesign

Starts at $30K and averages $50K.

You are ready to level up. It’s time to build the foundational website that your company needs to run everything you have planned for marketing.

We’re going to spend 4-6 months together designing a site that will allow your team to thrive long-term.

Scale

$5K/mo+

We’ve redesigned your site – check. Even though we’ve given you the training you need to manage the day-to-day of your site, you know that a website is never truly done. You don’t need someone to simply update plugins: you want a partner that will help you expand your site as your marketing plan shifts.

But, I have some questions …

What about long-term collaboration?

Your team will be fully empowered to run the site on your own. You probably have a fantastic marketing crew that can run with it. Most of our clients have non-web folks running the websites we build.

If you want to continue our collaboration, monthly pricing starts at $5,000.

What typically drives your project pricing?

We normally see prices for our sites range from $60-150K. Elements that typically play into that price range are: more content written by our team, custom functionality, in-depth SEO migration, sites that contain more than 100 pages (not counting blog posts), and photography or artwork commissioned.

I like this, but it’s just too expensive.

There is a season in business where building a site in this price range using this process does not make sense. We would much rather see you get a website live with a trusted partner than for you to try and cobble a DIY solution together. Get in touch and we’ll get you connected to the right partner.

I’m a part of an agency that doesn’t do web. Would you all partner with us?

We have partnered with many agencies year after year — because of that, we know what works and what doesn’t in a partnership. When you start working with another agency, you have to learn each other’s work styles and communication preferences. It takes some time, but we know how to expedite that process to start building rapport and solid websites for your clients. Let’s schedule a time to chat, and Chris will go over it with you.

How we build sites

Let’s dive a bit technical here to make sure we’re in alignment on what you will receive when we finish your website:

  • We create a Codex that allows your team to keep the website on-brand for a long time
  • We build using the WP Block Editor (and sometimes some custom ACF blocks)
  • For content types that need a locked-in structure (think: case studies and testimonials), we build those as Custom Post Types with a form to fill out to populate content
  • We believe in minimal plugin use (and ones created by established companies). While building, we will lean towards custom-coding a feature rather than using a “one and done” plugin for something simple.

Let’s zoom out
Our cadence to ensure quality

Once we have our kick off, a recurring monthly meeting (15-minutes) will be scheduled to go over three high-level working together:

  1. Are we delivering the quality you are looking for?
  2. Is our team communicating effectively with you?
  3. Are we completing tasks in a timely manner?

We’re all human – mistakes will happen.

Let’s solve them while they are small.

Let’s go.

As the founder of Classic City Consulting, I know firsthand how critical a clear, strategic web presence is during pivotal moments of growth. That’s why we’re committed to more than just building websites—we’re here to partner with you, turning your vision into a powerful online tool that drives your business forward. I’m passionate about helping leaders like you navigate these inflection points with confidence, ensuring your website truly reflects where your business is headed.
