Rebrand without a rebuild

Evangel University had completed months of work developing a comprehensive rebrand. New colors, new fonts, new messaging, new visual aesthetic – everything except the logo was changing. The rebrand was ambitious and necessary, representing the university’s evolution and growth.

But they faced a significant obstacle: their existing website was built entirely in WP Bakery with over 400 pages, hundreds of blog posts, and complex custom post types for departments, programs, and faculty data. A traditional complete rebuild would require 18+ months and costs that far exceeded what made sense for the project.

The university couldn’t launch their new marketing materials while their website still reflected the old brand identity. They needed a solution that would allow them to implement their rebrand comprehensively without the time and cost constraints of a full reconstruction.

Strategic Approach

Instead of the typical page-by-page rebuild approach, we developed a systematic block-by-block migration strategy:

Block Mapping & Strategy Development
Mapped every building block across the site to create a systematic replacement strategy. This shifted thinking from “400 individual pages” to “30 repeating block patterns.”

Global Foundation First
Updated headers, navigation, and footers across the entire site simultaneously. This delivered instant brand transformation on every page with a single update.

Data-Driven Prioritization
Analyzed traffic patterns to identify the 40-50 pages most critical for prospective students, ensuring these got full migration treatment first.

Systematic Monthly Rollouts
Migrated 5-10 additional pages monthly using new WordPress native blocks, maintaining business continuity throughout the process.

Platform Modernization
Transitioned from WP Bakery to WordPress Block Editor, future-proofing content management for non-technical staff.

Evangel University proved that brand transformation doesn’t require a complete website reconstruction. With the right strategy, you can have immediate brand alignment and long-term technical improvements.

Stop thinking about websites as all-or-nothing projects. Strategic, systematic approaches deliver better outcomes faster and more affordably.
